Goal Oriented Requirements Analysis of an Environmental control and monitoring system in multi-modal mobility scenarios

This paper introduces an analysis of an environmental control and monitoring system by using a Goal-Oriented Requirements Methodology (GOReM) which seamlessly supports all the stages of requirements engineering. The paper, based on the GOReM structure, presents the three main phases of this methodology, Context Modeling, Scenario Modeling and Use Case Modeling, that lead to requirements specification analysis starting from stakeholders’ goals. In particular, the modeling of a system for environmental monitoring and control through the use of public transportation is provided by analyzing three different use cases that represent possible applications of the monitoring system. The goal-oriented methodology, such as GOReM, for addressing both early and late requirement engineering phases, which is lean, easy to master and apply and, at the same time, clear and rigorous, can be an enabling tool for promoting the application of the Systems Engineering mindset in the sustainable application domains.
