Body plethysmography and its relationship with maximum respiratory pressures and forced vital capacity in post-covid 19 patients Colombia
Introduction: Covid-19 is an infectious disease that once cured produces limitations in different systems, among which the respiratory system stands out, generating a clinical picture related to dyspnea. Pulmonary function tests and maximum respiratory pressures (PIM-PEM) provide objective quantification of respiratory compromise and respiratory muscle strength in post-covid 19 patients. Objective: Relationship of body plethysmography with PIM-PEM and forced vital capacity in post-covid 19 patients Colombia. Materials and methods: Cross-sectional study in post-Covid 19 patients without comorbidities, who were evaluated for total lung capacity, inspiratory capacity, forced vital capacity and PIM-PEM according to the ATS/ERS guidelines. The statistic used was Pearson Correlation. Results: 29 post-covid 19 patients were included with a mean age of 58.5±15 years, 58% female. The table describes the results of the correlation between lung function and PIM-PEM. FVC: Forced Vital Capacity, TLC: Total Lung Capacity, MIP: Maximum Inspiratory Pressure, MEP: Maximum Expiratory Pressure. Correlation is significant at the **0.01 level and *0.05 level Conclusions: This study found that TLC by plethysmography presents a direct relationship with IC and FVC, likewise IC is directly related to MIP and this to PEM, which shows compromise of respiratory mechanics, so lung function and the PIM-PEM should be considered an evaluative strategy in post-covid 19 patients. <table-wrap><object-id>erj;64/suppl_68/PA2338/TB1</object-id><object-id>T1</object-id><object-id>TB1</object-id><table><colgroup><col></col><col></col><col></col><col></col><col></col></colgroup><tbody><tr><td></td><td>TLC</td><td>IC</td><td>MIP</td><td>MEP</td></tr><tr><td>FVC</td><td>0,75**</td><td>0,66**</td><td></td><td></td></tr><tr><td>TLC</td><td></td><td>0,69**</td><td></td><td></td></tr><tr><td>IC</td><td></td><td></td><td>-0,42*</td><td></td></tr><tr><td>MIP</td><td></td><td></td><td></td><td>0,46*</td></tr></tbody></table></table-wrap>
