DEMO: UAV Missions With 5G And Satellite Support
UAVs are becoming increasingly popular and affordable, making them ideal for various complex tasks such as carrying small loads, scouting areas, and reaching difficult-to-access locations. Leveraging these capabilities, UAVs can be invaluable during disaster response scenarios. This work equips a UAV with object detection and avoidance capabilities using a depth sensor camera and a command framework. The UAV will be able to follow a user via coordinates provided by a smartphone application, and at the same time serving as a mobile 5G cellular network base station, ensuring constant connectivity. Additionally, the UAV is also connected to satellite through Starlink, providing reliable and high-speed internet access. Lastly, it contains a live stream service, which allows the camera to transmit its live feed to a client on the internet. The integration of these technologies enhances the UAV functionality and reliability in critical situations, like disaster scenarios.
