Digitalized German guidelines in the app LeilaPRO
Introduction: LeilaPRO was supported by the German Society for Pneumology and Respiratory Medicine (DGP) and has become an established tool among the constantly growing number of medical smartphone apps and desktop applications with over > 22,000 installations. The only guideline app to offer horizontal integration across currently 26 integrated guidelines, thus enabling the synchronous and cross-speciality presentation of contents from several guidelines. Aims: The aim of horizontal integration is to improve patient treatment using cross-linked guidelines and to generate findings for further training and the development of new guidelines. Methods: The retrospective data analysis of the tracking data on the use of the guideline, the cross-linked access and the use of the individual elements (full text, scores, glossary contributions) was performed for all users who had given their consent in advance. Results: Over 300,000 hits have been registered since release of the app in 06/2020. The sepsis guideline has been the most frequently requested guideline with 16% of all requests, followed by the Covid-19 guidelines with 13% and the tuberculosis guideline with 13% of requests. 65% of users used iOS und 31% used Android. The analysis of the horizontal linking of content showed that this method being used with an increasing tendency. This increases the likelihood of guideline-compliant treatment. Conclusions: The interdisciplinary availability and cross-linking of the guidelines within the app serves as data-based support for decisions in the healthcare. This allows complex issues to be presented economically and effectively from a combined perspective, as opposed to a one-sided view that only considers individual guidelines.
