Risk factors for bronchiolitis admissions for extreme preterm infants across Liverpool
Introduction: Infants with bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) are high risk for severe bronchiolitis. Socioeconomic (SE) deprivation is a risk factor for both preterm birth and severe bronchiolitis. Aims: In a region with high bronchiolitis admission rates and SE deprivation we aim to identify: Risk factors for bronchiolitis admission for infants with BPD born at extreme prematurity. SE inequalities for bronchiolitis admission in this cohort. Methods: Extreme preterm infants from the Liverpool Area in the BPD clinic since 2009 are included. Deprivation is measured by Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD) and Income Deprivation Affection Children Index (IDACI). GeoJSON was used to create a heatmap of bronchiolitis admissions. Results: 132 infants met the inclusion criteria. 50 had ≥1 admission with bronchiolitis. 3/80 with available data had not required mechanical ventilation in the neonatal period. <fig><object-id>erj;64/suppl_68/PA4076/F1</object-id><object-id>F1</object-id><object-id>F1</object-id><graphic></graphic></fig> <fig><object-id>erj;64/suppl_68/PA4076/F2</object-id><object-id>F2</object-id><object-id>F2</object-id><graphic></graphic></fig> Conclusion: BW and SE deprivation (IMD and IDACI) are associated with increased risk of admission. No statistical significance was found due to the small population size. Geographical admission patterns follow a similar pattern to SE deprivation across the region
