O USO DA OZONIOTERAPIA EM ENDODONTIA: UMA REVISÃO NARRATIVA DA LITERATURA
Introduction: Ozone, a powerful oxidizing agent, has antimicrobial, analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties, making it a promising alternative in dentistry, especially in endodontics. Objectives: This study aims to review the literature on the use of ozone therapy as an adjuvant therapy in the disinfection of root canals. Materials and Methods: A narrative review of scientific articles published between 2020 and 2024 was carried out, using databases such as PubMed, SciELO, LILACS and Google Scholar. Nine relevant articles focusing on the application of ozone in endodontics were selected. Discussion: Ozone has demonstrated efficacy in inactivating microorganisms without causing damage to human tissues, presenting itself as a viable option to sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl), which, although effective, has adverse effects. The use of ozone therapy can complement traditional methods, improving disinfection. Conclusion: Ozone therapy represents an effective and safe alternative for endodontic disinfection, but more studies are needed to establish standardized protocols and ensure their application in clinical practice.
