Cover Feature: Overriding Cage Effect in Electron Donor‐Acceptor Photoactivation of Diaryliodonium Reagents: Synthesis of Chalcogenides (Chem. Eur. J. 61/2024)
An electron donor–acceptor photoactivation platform of diaryliodonium reagents has been developed, in which generated aryl radicals override the cage effect to get captured by dichalcogenides en route to the synthesis of a wide variety of di(hetero)aryl and aryl–alkyl chalcogenides. The chalcogenation technology applies to late-stage functionalizations and disulfide bioconjugations, and facilitates access to bioactive compounds and pharmaceuticals.
