Stability analysis in finger millet [Eleusine coracana (L.) Gaertn]

Finger millet [Eleusine coracana (L.) Gaertn.] Also known as African millet or Ragi belongs to family Gramineae or Poaceae and common name ‘Finger millet’ is derived from the finger-like branching of the panicle. It is a self-pollinated, tetraploid (2n = 36) crop. In this experiment material comprised of sixty one genotypes along with seven checks was sown in randomized block design with two replications Kharif 2018-2019 seasons at Experimental Farm, Sweet Orange Research Station, Badnapur. Each genotype was sown in single row, each of 3 meter length and 30 x 10 cm spacing was followed. It provides basis for selection of superior genotypes from the diverse breeding population. Seed yield is the product of interaction of component traits. Apart, stability analysis is important to obtain information about how the component characters influence the seed yield through each other. Stability performance is one of the most desired property of genotype which give idea about the adaptation of the genotype in varying environments.
