Effect of liquid fertilizers and growth stages of application on nutrient content, uptake and nutrient status of soil at harvest of paddy

A field investigation entitled “Effect of liquid fertilizers and growth stages of application on nutrient content, uptake and nutrient status of soil at harvest of paddy” was carried out at Agronomy Farm, College of Agriculture, Nagpur, during kharif season of 2023- 2024. The experimental field was laid out in a factorial randomized block design (FRBD) with two factors. The first factor was comprised of four liquid fertilizers treatments viz., L1 (Foliar application of 1% 19:19:19), L2 (Foliar application of 1% 19:19:19 + PDKV Grade-2), L3 (Foliar application of 1% 13:0:45) and L4 (Foliar application of 1% 13:0:45 + PDKV Grade-2) and the second factor comprised of three growth stages of application viz., G1 (Maximum tillering), G2 (Grain filling).and G3 (Maximum tillering and grain filling) forming 12 treatment combinations replicated three times. Results revealed that, N content and P content in grain and straw were found numerically maximum with the foliar application of 1% 19:19:19 + PDKV Grade-2 (L2). But, K content in grain and straw was found highest with the foliar application of 1% 13:0:45 + PDKV Grade-2 (L4). Similarly, N and K uptake by grain and straw were significantly superior with the foliar application of 1% 13:0:45 + PDKV Grade-2 (L4) over the rest of liquid fertilizers. P uptake by grain and straw did not differ significantly due to different liquid fertilizers treatments, but it was also found superior with the foliar application of 1% 13:0:45 + PDKV Grade-2 (L4). Furthermore, residual soil available N and P were found significantly superior with the foliar application of 1% 19:19:19 + PDKV Grade-2 (L2) over rest of the treatments. While, residual soil available K was found significantly superior with the foliar application of 1% 13:0:45 + PDKV Grade-2 (L4) over rest of the treatments. On the other hand, N, P, K content and uptake by grain and straw as well as available N, P and K in post-harvest soil were found significantly superior with the application of liquid fertilizer at maximum tillering and grain filling stages (G3).
