Growth indices and drymatter production of groundnut as influenced by various farming types and cropping system under Southern transition Zone of Karnataka

A field experiment was conducted at ZAHRS, Navile, Shivamogga during kharif 2021 and 2022 under split plot design with three farming types viz., conventional farming, organic farming and natural farming as main plots and five cropping systems viz., groundnut + maize (4:1) intercropping, groundnut + finger millet (4:1) intercropping, sole groundnut, sole maize and sole finger millet as subplots in sandy loam soil. Conventional farming recorded 15 per cent and 36 per cent higher drymatter than organic farming and natural farming respectively at 60 DAS. Sole groundnut recorded 23 per cent and 15 per cent higher drymatter than groundnut + maize intercropping and groundnut + finger millet intercropping respectively at 60 DAS. Growth indices of groundnut viz., Absolute growth rate, Relative growth rate, Crop growth rate and Leaf production rate were higher in convectional farming and sole groundnut at 30-60 DAS. However Net assimilation rate and Specific leaf eight recorded non signifant values among farming types and cropping systems. Interaction observation for various farming types and cropping systems noticed non significant values at all the time intervals.
