Fabrication of MoS₂-BSA-ZnO Nano-Bio Composite Electronic Device for Ultralow-Level Atrazine Detection
This work represents the development of electronic sensor devices for Atrazine (ATZ) detection. To fabricate the sensor device, required MoS2 nanosheets were synthesized by using the “liquid phase sonication technique” from bulk powder followed by conjugation with ZnO nanostructures and bovine serum albumin (BSA). This 2-D nano-bio composite MoS2-BSA-ZnO (MBZ)-based electronic device could be used for ultralow-level ATZ detection. A vast study was performed on the synthesis of MBZ and its interaction with ATZ for the development of sensor devices. The MBZ was characterized by XPS, HRTEM, RAMAN, FTIR, UV-Vis spectroscopic technique, etc., prior to sensor device fabrication. A very sensitive ATZ detection strategy was created using a simple drop-casting process. The working principle of the fabricated sensor device is based on the variation of the current/conductance of MBZ with ATZ concentration. Thus, the MBZ electronic device shows tremendous potential for ultralow-level ATZ sensing with a detection limit of 10 fM.
