Development of Gaming AI: A Case Study

In the gaming industry, AI solutions have been kept simple for many years. This is particularly true for implemen-tations such as entities with which the player engages in some form of hostile interaction, battling them. In the last 10 years, there have been two instances where general AI behaviors were moved beyond the usual and highly complex AIs were created. It is important to point out that only one of these advanced entities appeared predominantly during each of the two games. The purpose of the research is to highlight why general AI solutions are kept simple, and whether it is feasible or advisable to change this. For the purpose of the research, a general AI entity was developed, and its expansion began for research purposes.
