The Technological Innovation of Pit Stops in Formula 1
Pit stops in Formula 1 have evolved from time-consuming operations of the 1950s into lightning-fast, technologically advanced processes. These were driven by various automated tools and technological innovations. Pit stop times have significantly decreased, allowing teams to improve their competitiveness. However, along with these developments come technical malfunctions and potential human errors, which pose significant risks. Despite these challenges, the focus remains on increasing efficiency and safety. A review of the relevant literature was conducted to understand the historical progression and technological advancements in pit stops. Overall, pit stops are a continuous arena of innovation, where ongoing developments are carried out to enhance safety, efficiency, and thereby assist drivers in achieving victory.
