p–d Orbitals Coupling Heterosites of Ni2P/NiFe‐LDH Interface Enable O─H Cleavage for Water Splitting (Adv. Funct. Mater. 40/2024)

Water Splitting Sluggish reactive kinetics is a key challenge for electrocatalytic water splitting. In article number 2411024, p–d heterojunctions are proposed by Guangbo Che, Zhao-Qing Liu, and co-workers to synergistically cleave O─H bonds of H2O and OH− to promote the reactive kinetics of HER and OER. The as-designed Ni2P/NiFe-LDH with orbital coupling of Fe 3d and P 2p in Ni2P–NiFe-LDH interfaces increases the d band center of Fe and reduces the p band center of P, which are the active sites for absorbing oxygen and proton to accelerate catalytic reactions, and thereby affording excellent performance for water splitting.
