Effectiveness Evaluation Study of Dump Truck Virtual Maintenance Training System

Conventional evaluation methods for assessing the effectiveness of VR-based industrial maintenance training systems exhibit limitations including a narrow range of evaluation techniques, over-reliance on evaluators, and limited generalizability of the evaluation results. In this study, a novel comprehensive evaluation method is proposed that integrates multiple criteria and decisions. The hierarchical analysis approach is employed to systematically refine the evaluation hierarchy of decision objects, while leveraging eye-tracking and motion capture technologies to enhance the refinement of evaluation indicators, enabling quantifiable assessments. The proposed evaluation method is applied to assess the effectiveness of a virtual maintenance system for dump trucks. The results validate the applicability of the proposed effectiveness evaluation method for VR-based industrial maintenance training systems.
