Logistic Regression and XGBoost Model of Multiple Factors on Neijuan

China's rapid development has given rise to numerous Internet buzzwords, and “Neijuan” is among them. It has sparked extensive debates on the Internet and in society, triggering academic inquiry as well. While there are still few measurement tools to analyze the psychological connotations of this behavior, some pioneering scholars have made breakthroughs and progress in this area. Neijuan is often associated with excessive competition. In the process of Neijuan, there are often behaviors such as anxiety, depression, refusal to cooperate, and lack of trust. To delve further into the dimensions of characteristics influencing Neijuan, and to quantitatively analyze the weights of these factors, we conducted an online survey research and collected 217 valid questionnaires. The dependent variable was individual perception of Neijuan, while the independent variables included a set of emotional and attitudinal measures (e.g., anxiety, depression, Cultural Tightness-Looseness (TL), belief in a just world (BJW), Sense of control, cooperation, competition). These factors were analyzed quantitatively using Pearson correlation analysis, Binomial logistic regression, and the XGBoost machine learning model. Leveraging the advantages of machine learning, this study identified the key factors (i.e., competition, Sense of control) contributing to Neijuan. The findings offer valuable insights into further exploring the factors and mechanisms influencing Neijuan.
