A 10~ 18GHz Broadband Low Noise Amplifier

A three-stage broadband low-noise amplifier (LNA) is presented in the letter. Negative feedback structures are employed to extend the bandwidth and improve the gain flatness of the LNA. Moreover, by introducing inductive gain peaking components, the high-frequency gain and gain flatness of the LNA are further enhanced. The noise figure and the return loss can be optimized simultaneously through adjusting the input, output and inter stage matching networks, which also have positive effects to bandwidth extension. The simulation results show that the power gain of the LNA is 22.0±0.2dB from 10GHz to 18GHz with power supply of 5V. The noise figure is less than 2.9dB, the input return loss S<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">11</inf> is less than -16dB and the output return loss S<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">22</inf> is better than -13dB. Abstract
