Hermit Crab Optimization to Overcome Coverage Hole Issue for Efficient Hole Issue in WSN
Wireless sensor network plays a major role in prediction and surveillance-based applications, it is necessary to keep all the nodes in the transmission range to have efficient coverage to monitor and instantly access data from the deployed area during the event. When nodes are randomly deployed in the field, some nodes get placed far away from the transmission range of the main set of nodes. To get them back, Delaunay triangulation, and received signal strength indicator (RSSI) methods are used to find whether they are in the transmission range or not. To improve the coverage efficiency during the deployment, the hermit crab algorithm is proposed to find the optimized location to deploy and to keep the nodes in transmission range and how it is different from previous meta- heuristic algorithms is analyzed. This method gives efficient coverage and reduces energy consumption increasing network lifetime by keeping nodes in the transmission range.
