Design of Human Body Motion Detection System Based on Pyroelectric Infrared Sensor

Nowadays, human body motion detection is closely related to national defense security, urban public security, and people's daily lives. In this paper, the pyroelectric sensor is utilized to detect the different electrical signals generated by the human body when making various movements. By designing the pyroelectric infrared sensor unit, signal processing unit, microcontroller data acquisition unit, and Labview host computer display unit, the electrical signals from the infrared sensor were collected. Through experiments capturing the pyroelectric infrared signals of human stepping and jumps, an analysis and comparison of the two types of motion signals were conducted, successfully distinguishing between stepping and jumping actions.
