Blockchain-powered Solutions for Ensuring IoVT Data Confidentiality and Integrity

The Internet of Vehicular Things (IoVT) has revolutionized vehicular networks in the way the data of two or more related networks is exchanged and how traffic is managed in the blink of an eye. However, this breakdown of barriers drastically amplifies the level of connectivity, which has immense security implications. Hence, this research paper proposes a security framework that leverages blockchain technology to solve these challenges. It leverages the decentralized, immutable and transparent nature of blockchain technology. The framework's efficacy rested in analyzing data accuracy, availability interval, transmission rate, and aptitude to fend off attacks. As for the line of data integrity, the indicated system made it impossible to tamper with or make illicit changes to the data. The blockchain processes achieved an average latency of 200ms. Thus, vehicular communications are within the allowable range, ensuring timely information exchange. The framework proved scalable to a large extent, whereby it processed an average of 150 transactions per second, which is particularly important to enable large networks of IoVTs. Moreover, it was proven that the proposed architecture possessed high immunity to different types of attacks, including data control attacks, unauthorized access, and denial of service attacks. There were no successful assault attempts, as the heatmap showed, pointing to the framework having extreme security measures. The training and validation accuracy and the loss graphs depicted improvements in the status of the security model, over time, as reliable and enhanced.
