Solar PV and wind energy fed 4 kW DC Nanogrid With Light Electric Vehicle Load
Electric vehicles (EV’S) are the productive step to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and it also constitute to the major part of the present DC load demand and transport sector as well. Therefore, the development of EV’S charging infrastructure is also very important at the same time. DC charging station using renewable energy sources (RES) is significantly promoted in order to reduce the dependency on grid power and to achieve a cleaner and healthy environment. This paper outlines the design of 4 kW hybrid renewable energy fed DC charger for light electric vehicles. Perturb & Observe(P&O) maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithm has been applied to get the maximum power output from renewable energy sources. Phase shift control scheme designed using Proportional-Integral (PI) controllers and algorithm has been employed to the DC-DC phase shift full bridge (PSFB) converter to step down the 380V DC bus voltage to 48V to charge an electric vehicle battery. The system has been implemented on MATLAB/SIMULINK software to evaluate the results of the alleged system.
