Abstract

Fog computing is a crucial strategy for fulfilling the computational requirements of applications that demand minimal delay and for handling data in the era of the Internet of Things (IoT). Efficient task scheduling is essential for maximizing the utilization of resources, minimizing response time, and improving the overall performance of fog computing systems. The objective of this study is to introduce FogOptimize, a comprehensive framework designed to enhance the efficiency of job scheduling in fog computing through the utilization of optimization techniques. FogOptimize employs many factors like as work priority, resource availability, energy consumption, and Quality of Service (QoS) requirements to create well-informed scheduling choices. FogOptimize employs sophisticated optimization methods like as genetic algorithms, particle swarm optimization, and simulated annealing to maximize CPU efficiency, minimize response times, and optimize resource allocation. The effectiveness of the FogOptimize framework is demonstrated through extensive simulations and case studies, showcasing its improved performance in comparison to existing scheduling strategies and algorithms in fog computing environments. To summarize, FogOptimize is a significant advancement in improving the efficiency of job scheduling in fog computing, hence facilitating the building of more reliable and efficient fog-based systems.
