Model-Based Combined Regulator for PFC Applications
The paper presents an analysis of the design of a model-based combined controller with feedforward and feedback control loops for PFC applications. The controller design is based on a mathematical model of the power converter that is used for PFC application and consists of only a P (proportional) term. The gain of the P term is estimated according to the stability conditions. The I (integral) term of the controller is implemented to eliminate errors in estimated values of power converter parameters. Experimental validation of the model-based controller is performed in MatLab Simulink and compared with a common PI controller. The simulation approves the significant reduction of zero crossing distortion after the implementation of the proposed controller.
