A 220 GHz Real-A perture Imaging Radar With Two-Dimensional Beam Scanning Capability
This paper proposes a real aperture long-range radar system operating at 220GHz. The system uses high-gain reflector antennas with two-dimensional scanning capability as the transmitting and receiving antennas. A single antenna has a peak gain of up to 45.26dB, and the measured half-power beamwidth (HPBW) of the main beam is 0.92°. The radar system operates in frequency-modulated continuous wave (FMCW) mode, with the frequency source supporting a maximum modulation bandwidth of 15GHz. Theoretically, it can detect distances over one kilometer, covering a field of view of ±30° × ±30°. In this study, a triangular wave signal with a bandwidth of 1GHz was used for ranging and imaging experiments, achieving a measured distance resolution of 15cm and an angular resolution of less than 1°.
