Performance Comparison of Three-level Diode Clamped and T-type Multilevel Inverter

In this paper, the 3-level Diode-Clamped (Neutral Point Clamped) inverter and the T-Type multilevel inverter topologies are studied relative to each other. Based on a number of performance metrics, such as switching frequencies, modulation index, and total harmonic distortion (THD), a comparison is made. Pulse generation is achieved by means of the Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation (SPWM) technique. To examine their impact on THD and RMS Voltages for both inverter types, differing the switching frequencies and modulation index is done. A T-type inverter uses a T-type topology, which is distinguished by its more straightforward structure, whereas a Diode-Clamped inverter uses diodes to accomplish multiple voltage levels. In order to create a sinusoidal output, the inverter's switching pattern can be precisely controlled by selecting the SPWM mode.
