Modified Active Balancer for Multi-Module Battery Pack
This paper analyzes the topologies of active balancers and proposes an additional classification criterion based on the method of energy transfer between cells. An improved topology of an active balancer is proposed, which additionally ensures balancing at the module level and allows for flexible changes in the balancing method to speed up the process and increase reliability. A balancer with such a topology can replace passive balancers in electric vehicle battery packs currently in use without changing their design. Modeling of the balancing speed for different active balancer topologies has been carried out, confirming the effectiveness of the proposed topology.
