Design of 4×4 Circularly Polarized Phased Array MIMO Antenna for Sub-6 GHz 5G Automotive Wireless Communications
In the recent advancements in the wireless communication, 5G provides the reliable, uninterrupted and improved channel capacity signals throughout the communication while travelling and for users in rural areas. Therefore, phased array antenna with beamforming capability will be the one of the prominent solutions to address these features and ensure the effective communication. This paper describes and analyze the 4×4 slotted patch antenna array along with beamforming capability. The design provides the excellent impedance matching in Sub-6 GHz frequency bands dedicated for the 5G communication. The proposed array provides the gain of 18.5 dB which confirms the significant improvement in data rate according to link budget calculations. The beamforming feature of the proposed design demonstrates the -30° to +20° beam shift with the feeding phase shift of -30° to +40°. The specifications and performance of the design are suitable for various automotive wireless 5G use cases.
