Light Electric Vehicle Battery Performance Analysis with Indian Drive Cycles
The battery lifespan depends on several factors like the battery chemistry, operating temperature, cyclic aging, self-discharge, and usage behaviors. A drive cycle-based analysis is best suited to represent the usage behavior. The performance analysis of Light Electric Vehicle (LEV) batteries with Indian driving cycles has been carried out with a simulation model in this paper, as the drive cycles have a significant influence on EV performance. The Indian urban and Indian highway drive cycles are used to evaluate the battery performance parameters. The discharge current profiles of the Indian drive cycles are generated for Tata Nexon electric vehicle parameters to represent the Indian driving scenario closely. The SOC and battery voltage degradation, battery thermal behavior, and energy consumption are evaluated for the Indian drive cycles using the developed models.
