Design of CrossYagi antenna with Azimuth rotator for tracking CubeSat in Low Earth Orbit

A cross Yagi antenna with the feasibility of tracking 3U CubeSat at a height of 450km from earth surface which comes under LEO orbit is proposed and demonstrated in this research paper. The proposed cross Yagi antenna, unlike its available counterparts is designed to operate at 435MHz, obtained the gain of 9.01dBi and is paired with an azimuth rotator to track the CubeSat. The radiation efficiency for the Yagi antenna is achieved as 96.4% which shows as a good performance. Software such as MATLAB and 4nec2 are used to get the simulated results for the proposed antenna. Furthermore, the azimuth rotator is designed. The integration of cross Yagi antenna and azimuth rotator done on Fusion360 presents a holistic solution geared towards improving satellite tracking precision, in line with the requirements of contemporary space exploration and communication systems.
