Study on the corrosion behavior of stainless steel in coolant
Glassware corrosion test and electrochemical performance test were used to investigate the corrosion behaviors of 022Cr17Ni12Mo2, 1Cr18Ni9Ti and 06Cr18Ni11Ti stainless steel with different treated in ethylene glycol coolant and low-conductive ethylene glycol coolant. The results showed that the stainless steels were slightly corroded in both cooling liquids, and their mass change were within the range of ± 10mg after 14 days of glassware corrosion test. Compared to ethylene glycol coolant, the samples exhibited lower corrosion current density (Icorr) and higher impedance at low frequency region in low conductive coolant. After picking passivation treatments, the Icorr of the stainless steel had decreased in different coolants, and the corrosion resistance had been improved.
