The article discusses the economic and social aspects of the introduction of a biometric payment system in the trans- port infrastructure of the Northwestern Federal District. The potential benefits and risks associated with the protection of per- sonal data and the security of the systems used are analyzed, as well as expected changes in the convenience and effective- ness of such a payment method for end users.
