THE ROLE OF THE NORTHWESTERN FEDERAL DISTRICT IN ENSURING SUSTAINABLE INNOVATIVE DEVELOPMENT OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION

The article is devoted to the innovative development of the Russian Federation, both in general and in the regional context for the period from 2014 to 2022. The scientific research is based on statistical data for the open period. The purpose of the study is to identify the role of the Northwestern Federal District in the innovative development of the Russian Federation through indicators of financing scientific activities, costs of innovative research in the context of types of work and subjects. The results obtained confirm the potential of sustainable innovative development of the Russian Federation, the significant place in it of the North-Western Fed- eral District and can be applied for strategic planning of measures for the implementation of innovative development
