Exploration of the damage evolution of HTPB propellant adhesive interface based on trilinear damage model

Abstract In this paper, the HTPB propellant was used as the research object. A uniaxial tensile test was carried out at four rates. A mesoscopic model of propellant was established using the molecular dynamics method. The trilinear cohesion model was used to describe the damage behavior of the particle/matrix interface, which revealed the damage evolution of HTPB propellant under different strain rates. The results show that the interfacial damage of HTPB propellant is diffused at a high strain rate, the damage degree is lower, and the number is higher at a lower strain rate. The method adopted in this paper can reasonably describe the damage evolution phenomenon of the adhesive interface of HTPB propellant.
