Furlong Unity - A 3D Lidar Local Position Reference Sensor with Camera Augmentation

Abstract This paper introduces a novel Dynamic Positioning (DP) 3D lidar reference sensor capable of functioning with fixed retroreflectors or unaltered scenes. It aims to address challenges associated with presenting real-time 3D data to users, particularly in dynamic environments. Additionally, the paper explores the integration of a 6D inertial sensor and GNSS to enhance position tracking accuracy, focusing on the application of these technologies in real world DP operations.
