Saving Massive Gas and Condensate Losses of Gas Producers Losses Due to the Nearby Well Drilling Requirement

Reservoir pressure refers to the force that the fluids and gases in the underground rock layers apply on the surrounding environment. This force is an important factor that influences how well the drilling process can perform, how safe it is, and how efficient it is. Having accurate information about the reservoir pressure while drilling is crucial for choosing the right density of the drilling fluid and avoiding problems such as kicks, losses, or wellbore instability that can increase the drilling risks and costs. For this reason, there are some rules to follow to close nearby wells that can change the reservoir pressure while drilling. The current rules for Gas Condensate Reservoir suggest closing the gas producers that are less than 500 meters away and the gas injectors that are less than 2000 meters away from the drilling point. By conducting a careful and continuous observation, it was noticed that one of the elements that affect the achievement of the delivery goal is the amount of gas and condensate that are lost as a result of the need to shut in the wells during the drilling process. This has a considerable impact especially in the case of the large-scale reservoir that requires a high level of drilling activity. The purpose of this study was to review and modify the criteria for shutting in the wells in order to decrease the losses that are caused by this requirement and consequently reduce the number of wells that are not in operation in the gas condensate reservoirs
