ORIENTAÇÃO DE ENFERMAGEM NA PROMOÇÃO DO AME ATÉ OS SEIS MESES DE IDADE: UMA REVISÃO INTEGRATIVA
Exclusive Breastfeeding (EBF) is recommended to be practiced exclusively until the child is six months old, as breast milk provides the necessary nutrients to satisfy and nourish the infant during this period. Objective: To analyze the nursing guidelines and benefits in promoting EBF. Method: An integrative literature review was conducted using the SciELO, BVS, NCBI, and Google Scholar databases, with the descriptors “Breastfeeding” AND “Puerperal” AND “Nursing care”. Results: The findings indicate that the role of nursing in supporting EBF and implementing best practices involves performing their functions effectively while providing humanized care to the mother. This includes respecting her autonomy, promoting pain relief, and ensuring a calmer environment during the breastfeeding process and care for the newborn. Discussion: The discussion of the 15 articles that make up this integrative review on the promotion of exclusive breastfeeding (EBF) up to six months of age highlights the importance of the nursing role and the various factors that influence this practice. Conclusion: The contribution of nurses extends beyond clinical practices, encompassing the encouragement of maternal autonomy and the promotion of a supportive environment, both at the family and institutional levels.
