Visitor Motivation and Experience in Heritage Tourism: A Case Study of Amritsar
Amritsar, a city deeply rooted in history and spirituality, continues to draw visitors from around the globe. This research explores the factors that motivate tourists to visit Amritsar and assesses their overall experience. Key findings indicate that religious pilgrimage, historical exploration, and cultural immersion are the primary drivers for tourists. However, challenges such as overcrowding, inadequate infrastructure, and a lack of clear information and signage can diminish the visitor experience. To enhance the visitor experience and ensure the long-term sustainability of Amritsar's tourism industry, the study recommends implementing effective crowd management strategies, improving infrastructure, providing clear information and signage, and promoting sustainable tourism practices. By addressing these issues, Amritsar can solidify its position as a premier heritage destination, offering a memorable and enriching experience for all visitors.
