OS EFEITOS DA ELETROESTIMULAÇÃO TRANSCRANIANA EM PACIENTES COM FIBROMIALGIA: REVISÃO INTEGRATIVA
ABSTRACT: Introduction: Fibromyalgia is a rheumatic disease and is a chronic painful syndrome causing a series of other signs and symptoms, such as physical disability, reduced social participation, anxiety and depression, changes in sleep, among others. It is a disease that has no cure, but there are treatments to alleviate the symptoms. There is research into new treatments that seek to reduce pain in these patients and that provide fewer adverse effects, one of which is transcranial electrical stimulation. Objective: to understand the effects of transcranial electrical stimulation on pain in patients suffering from fibromyalgia. Methodology: This is an integrative literature review carried out in the PEDro, SciELO, LILACS and MEDLINE databases. Results: 19 articles were found and 06 of these were used in this review. The studies demonstrated positive effects from the application of transcranial electrical stimulation in patients with fibromyalgia, with sessions lasting 2 minutes and applied to a motor point in the prefrontal cortex. Conclusion: It was possible to observe a significant reduction in pain in these patients, but also improvement in sleep scales, fatigue, pain catastrophizing and anxious and depressive symptoms.
