PERAN MATA PELAJARAN SENI TARI DALAM PEMBENTUKAN KECERDASAN EMOSIONAL SISWA DI SEKOLAH MENENGAH ATAS
This study examines the role of dance education in shaping the emotional intelligence of high school students. Dance, as a form of performing arts, offers students a platform to recognize, manage, and express their emotions through structured and meaningful movements. Emotional intelligence, which includes the ability to understand one's own emotions and those of others, as well as the capacity to regulate and express emotions appropriately, is crucial for students' personal and social development. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach in several high schools in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan. Data were collected through observations, interviews with teachers and students, and document analysis. The findings indicate that dance education not only enhances students' self-expression abilities but also strengthens social relationships through empathy and collaboration. Dance also helps students manage negative emotions, such as stress and frustration, through positive creative outlets. Therefore, dance plays a significant role in the development of students' emotional intelligence in high schools and can be an essential component of character education.
