RAGAM GERAK TARI MOYO DALAM PERSPEKTIF MASYARAKAT NIAS: KAJIAN MAKNA DAN SIMBOL

The various movements of the Moyo Dance not only have elements of beauty, but each movement has a symbolic meaning related to the life, beliefs or cultural values of the Nias tribe. So this research aims to describe (1) the Nias community's perspective on the meanings and symbols contained in the various moyo dance movements (2) the function of the Moyo dance in the Nias community. This research was conducted using a qualitative descriptive method with data obtained through interviews and questionnaire results in the form of questions. The results of this research show that the Moyo Dance in the Nias language means eagle. Moyo Dance or Eagle Dance is taken from Nias folklore which has different versions in each region of Nias Island. The function of the Moyo Dance is not only as an art that is presented as a form of entertainment to the nobility in Nias, but now its function is increasingly developing, namely being danced during traditional parties and other arts festivals.
