Smart Infuse Dosing and Monitoring System
Hospitals play a vital role in the healthcare system by providing complex curative services, emergency care, knowledge transfer centers, and medical staff training. However, challenges such as a shortage of medical personnel, especially nurses, and issues with intravenous fluid monitoring are still common. These problems can lead to nurse negligence, increasing the risk of errors and delays in patient care. For instance, delayed replacement of depleted IV fluids can cause blood from the vein to enter the IV line due to air pressure differences, a situation that can obstruct blood circulation, cause oxygen deficiency, and potentially lead to death. To address these challenges, an advanced system was developed to improve the management of IV fluids. This system is capable of monitoring IV fluid volume up to 500 ml, detecting the drip rate within a range of 0–20 drops per minute (DPM), and allowing remote control of the drip rate up to 250 meters.
