Methods for Output Current Compensation of Floating Gate Drivers
This paper proposes two novel circuit techniques that aim to dynamically compensate high voltage gate drivers' output current variation during both charge/discharge phases, in order to make it insensitive to supply variations. They were succesfully implemented during the design phase of a bridge driver for motor control in a standard high voltage 0.18μ m BCD technology. The output current deviation is reduced from ~25% with no compensation to below 2% with the presented techniques on the entire range of output currents (1mA - 150mA). The presented solutions ensure higher accuracy through better driving control, area reduction, speed and dynamical behavior improvement.
