In this study, we develop a method for the topology optimization of a room sound field and attempt to design the form of a reverberation room using the method we developed. The proposed method uses the finite element method for the analysis of the room sound field and adopts the evolutionary structural optimization method for the topology optimization. The objective function of the topology optimization is set such that the distribution of natural frequencies in the low frequency range of the room sound field is as close to uniform as possible. The proposed method is applied to the design of a reverberation room, and the optimization result shows that the proposed method can actually generate a room form in which the distribution of eigenfrequencies is uniform.
