Optimizing Bit Error Rate in Optical CDMA Systems via Flexible Double Weight Code Implementation
Optical code division multiple access (OCDMA) represents an optical access technology with significant potential due to its ability for asynchronous access and provision of enhanced security. Consequently, a novel code configuration for spectral amplitude coding (SAC) OCDMA systems, utilizing Double Weight (DW) code families, has been suggested. The DW code family maintains a constant weight of two. Meanwhile, Flexible Double Weight (FDW) codes are variations of the DW code family with weights exceeding two and exhibit remarkable capability in mitigating phase-induced intensity (PIIN) noise and multiple access interference (MAI) within transmission networks. Theoretical analysis indicates that the FDW code performs significantly better than Modified Double Weight (MDW) and Enhance Double Weight (EDW) codes. Simulation has shown that the FDW code with polarization encoding significantly outperforms the MDW and EDW codes. Specifically, for a 10 Gbps system, the FDW code has the capability to accommodate as many as 172 simultaneous users.
