Performance Evaluation of 32 WDM-FSO Systems with Different Weather Turbulence Under Variance Launch Power Values

Fiber optics in Free-Space Optical (FSO) communication systems are highly reliant on environmental conditions, making weather scenario analysis essential for dependable and efficient operation. Rain may attenuate and disperse signals, making it a major issue. Power levels must be carefully considered to ensure communication quality in various rain intensities. The analysis of various weather conditions has a significant influence on the study of the performance of fiber optics, which is necessary to ensure successful and dependable performance. This study aims to propose an investigation for a 32-channel DWDM FSO system, considering three distinct rain condition scenarios and a range of transmission lengths from five to twenty kilometers. To address the problem of power consumption, the purpose of this research is to determine the optimal choice of power requirements for every rainfall level. The results show that for light rain, -10 dBm is sufficient for transmission up to 15 kilometers. Transmission is limited to 5 kilometers with -10 dBm power in medium rain. For distances up to 10 km, 10 dBm input power ensures transmission. Finally, for heavy rain, -5 dBm meets the 5 km transmission criterion. 5 dBm guarantees reliable signal transmission. It is planned that in the future, the problem of heavy rain will be further investigated through various approaches of amplification to accomplish transmission at distances greater than 10 km.
