Effect of Voltage Waveform on the Drop Formation Dynamics in A Drop-on-Demand Inkjet Printing

Piezoelectric drop-on-demand inkjet technology is widely used in the field of additive manufacturing due to its advantages of cost-effective., high-precision., and efficient printing of multiple materials. However., there is a certain conflict between printing efficiency and printing quality in practical applications. So it is especially important to study the relationship between voltage waveform and droplet volume and velocity. In order to realize the precise control of droplet volume and velocity within the controllable range by adjusting the voltage waveform in the actual industrial production process. This paper establishes a coupled dynamics model of piezoelectric inkjet printhead., carries out a simulation study on the dynamics of the droplet injection process., and analyzes its formation mechanism. Based on the mechanism of droplet formation and the response characteristics of the basic waveform., experiments on droplet formation are carried out to study the effect of voltage waveform on the droplet formation process and droplet jetting quality. The experimental results show that the volume and velocity of droplets show an approximately linear growth trend with the increase of voltage amplitude. These works provide theoretical support for subsequent research and applications.
