A Transmitarray Antenna with Cross-Patch and Stubs Unit-Cells for V-Band Applications

Transmitarrays antenna modify the phase of incident electromagnetic waves across an aperture by employing an array of phase-shifting elements. In comparison to conventional phased array antennas, this enables transmitarrays to dynamically control and modify beams without physically moving antenna elements, providing flexibility in beamforming and improving gain of the antenna. In this paper, a novel transmitarray antenna that designed using cross-patch and stubs unit-cells arranged into 61 elements on array form on V-Band frequency. The proposed antenna is printed using a Rogers 4003C with a thickness of 0.51 mm, dielectric constant of 3.55 and tan <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\boldsymbol{\delta}$</tex> of 0.0027. The feeding technique used is indirect feeding using a microstrip line feed. Abstract

The transmitarray antenna with a dimension of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\mathbf{54}\ \mathbf{mm} \times \mathbf{54}\ \mathbf{mm}$</tex> results in a minimal <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\vert \boldsymbol{S}_{\mathbf{21}}\vert$</tex> value of -0.947 dB and a gain value of 25.11 dB at the frequency of 40 GHz.
