DEVELOPMENT OF A LOGARITHMIC AMPLIFIER CIRCUIT WITH THERMAL COMPENSATION AND ADAPTIVE REVERSE VOLTAGE BIAS FOR OPTICAL POWER METERS

This paper presents the developed circuit of a logarithmic amplifier with temperature compensation and adaptive reverse voltage bias for optical power meters. The used photodetector based on an InGaAs photodiode provides high sensitivity in the range of 800–1700 nm, which makes the circuit suitable for atmospheric optical communication lines. Simulation and testing of the circuit were carried out, which proved its competitiveness with existing solutions.

Abstract

This paper presents the developed circuit of a logarithmic amplifier with temperature compensation and adaptive reverse voltage bias for optical power meters. The used photodetector based on an InGaAs photodiode provides high sensitivity in the range of 800–1700 nm, which makes the circuit suitable for atmospheric optical communication lines. Simulation and testing of the circuit were carried out, which proved its competitiveness with existing solutions.
