MAGNETO-OPTICAL PLANAR WAVEGUIDE BASED ON A THREE-PERIODIC PHOTONIC CRYSTAL
An optical waveguide based on a one-dimensional three-periodic photonic crystal formed by dielectrics (SiO2, TiO2) and Y3Fe5O12 (YIG) and Bi:YIG ferrite garnets magnetized to saturation is considered. The guiding layer of the waveguide is a supercell of the [(ab) N (cd) M ] K type. Using the 4x4 matrix method, dispersion equations for eigenwaves in the waveguide are obtained. The structure of hybrid modes is analyzed, dispersion dependences of the propagation constant on the cyclic frequency, as well as localization coefficients of orthogonal modes in the guiding layer are found. The results can be useful in designing new magneto-optical devices of the infrared range based on three-periodic photonic crystals.
