ANTILASER EFFECT IN PLANAR STRUCTURES WITH MATCHED LAYER PARAMETERS

The interference of counter-propagating waves (IСPW) in a bilayer planar structure, including layers of left-handed and right-handed media with matched parameters, is investigated. It is shown that, depending on the level of electrical losses, it is possible to either increase the reflectance of incident waves almost to 1 or decrease it to 0 (antilaser effect).

Abstract

The interference of counter-propagating waves (IСPW) in a bilayer planar structure, including layers of left-handed and right-handed media with matched parameters, is investigated. It is shown that, depending on the level of electrical losses, it is possible to either increase the reflectance of incident waves almost to 1 or decrease it to 0 (antilaser effect).
